Sam & AJ's Bloomington Engagement

When I think of Sam & AJ, I can’t help but light up with a smile! Sam was my discipler in college through Cru at Indiana University and someone I have always loved & admired. If you’ve met her, you know how vulnerably honest, cute, hilarious and fun she is. When I learned of her engagement with AJ, my heart filled with joy knowing they will have a biblically centered and loving marriage for the years to come.

Given they both live in Bloomington and we have a very special place in our hearts for the city of our alma mater, we couldn’t wait to reunite with this couple on campus! We started around Showalter Fountain and hit up iconic spots like Sample Gates before finishing at the Bloomington downtown square. So much has changed, yet we loved reminiscing walking through the place we called home for 4+ years.

AJ liked Sam for almost two years prior to the time they started dating. They had mutual friends, but Sam rejected him at first. Despite relationships other boyfriends, AJ’s affections for Sam stayed true and something eventually changed in Sam’s heart.

Her eyes finally opened to the fact that this great man who had remained her friend over the years could actually have potential to be someone she could call her husband someday. I’m sure they both couldn’t be more overjoyed at how God wrote their love story and brought them together!

Sam’s version of their proposal story had us laughing out loud.

On a cold day, AJ asked her out on a date over the weekend. She had her suspicions, but he promised they were just having a picnic with charcuterie and going fishing at the lake. “But it’s so cold!” Sam exclaimed.

AJ insisted it was going to be worth it. Despite interruptions by college students and Sam thinking it might actually not be that fateful moment after all, AJ ended up popping the question and fulfilled Sam’s hopes. She promptly followed up with asking “are you sure?!” multiple times. Too funny for this match made in heaven!

Cheers to Sam & AJ! It was a joy getting to capture their love. We cannot wait to celebrate their wedding in a few months this May!
